Since childhood, many of us have had a vague dream of becoming an outstanding artist, ballerina, model or singer. We make Napoleonic plans, write about it in a personal diary, sometimes even take the first steps and achieve little success. But when it comes time to choose a profession, often due to insecurity in our talent, persistent advice from parents or just a lack of faith in our own strength, we find ourselves where we never wanted to be and do what we do not like.

A typical scenario of thousands if not millions of human lives, right? But today will be a story about how you can start the path to your dream life without waiting for a new day, week or other life. We talked to a student of the Faculty of Management – Galina Pankiv. Despite studying at the university, the girl asserts herself in her favorite business: she stylizes the best Lviv photographers, runs her own blog about fashion and style and already teaches at an art & fashion school.

For the first time, the girl tried this role while still in school and was very interested in styling and fashion. But when the crucial moment of choosing a profession came, two dilemmas arose: doubts as to whether there would really be an inspiration to engage in this kind of creativity all one’s life and the lack of quality higher education in this field at that time.

Chose the Faculty of Management. At first glance – a step that dramatically changed plans for the future and left dreams of fashion in a carefree childhood. However, this is only a tool to move forward with confidence.

Find yourself
Immediately after entering the university, Galya started styling. The ideal way to learn something is to practice. The girl developed her own style, which will be recognized in the future, learned to work in a team and learned all the nuances of her profession.
The works in which the most effort and originality were invested went to the portfolio.

“I realized that the first step in my career should be a strong portfolio. It is not so important for creative people to have the appropriate education, it is important to show the result. It may be 3 cool shots, but the people you want to work with see them and understand that you’re doing your job very cool. ”

The shooting was combined with training: in the morning a couple, in the afternoon until the evening – work. So about two years, until we gathered enough staff for a good portfolio. Decent creative work quickly began to bear fruit and today behind the stylists of publications in Canadian and American online publications

Open up to the world

Good filming, blogging, and hard work have led to Galya was invited to teach Art & Fashion School: to conduct style courses, to give lectures on balanced wardrobe and trends, on the history of fashion brands, their DNA.

This area has become a chance to make small incarnations in people: to improve their appearance, and at the same time, to give self-confidence. The stylist began to spend more time with like-minded people, and each time she prepares for lectures she enriches her theoretical knowledge and hones her organizational skills.

Also, the agency has become a place where you can put your ideas into practice and implement projects. Galya recently launched Fashion Public Talks – monthly public interviews with fashion industry professionals.

Keeping up with everything, always being full of strength and energy, she is helped by the fact that she does her favorite thing, is not afraid to move forward and spends time only on what she really enjoys.

“I made my first blog at school. She created the site herself, thought through the structure, wrote several articles, but showed it to no one because of uncertainty and fear. Now I understand that it was a big mistake: if I had started then, I would have had much more today.
You should not waste time on your experiences and insecurities. Close your eyes to your suspicions that nothing will work. Why stop just because you don’t think you can? ”

The girl is currently working in the three areas mentioned above: private filming, blogging and school.
Each area gives her the necessary knowledge and skills, natural curiosity – expands the worldview and from a young student forms an experienced professional. Developing comprehensively, practicing tirelessly and asserting yourself – that’s what it takes to grab your ticket to the great future.
